Hello!

I am Mr. Mulford, a history teacher here at Liberty High School, Kissimmee, FL. Besides being a teacher, I also am the Social Studies Department Chair, member of the AVID academy, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Sponsor, Junior Class Sponsor and a member of the Media Review Committee.

Family:
I have the most beautiful and loving wife any man could wish for. Neisy and I have been married for 16 years and have enjoyed many memorable times traveling, especially our trip to Alaska in 2001 before the kids arrived. Our son Micah Joel was born in 2002 and is a joy to hang out with. He loves to be outside and has recently taken up skateboarding and boogie boarding. Jocelyn Grace was born in 2006 and is our miracle child. She was born with some severe medical conditions, however through God's grace she has been healed and is living a normal toddler life. Her biggest thrill is following her older brother around!

Hobbies:
I love to spend time with my family enjoying outdoor activities such bicycling, hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, tennis and basketball. Also I love woodworking, landscaping, and light construction work. This summer I bought a kayak and did some exploring along the coast of North Carolina and look forward to many more adventures.

Academics -
I received a B.A. in Pastoral Ministries at Southeastern Universityin Lakeland, Fl in 1994 and a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Florida in 1999. I hold a Florida Professional Teaching Certificate and am highly qualified to teach Social Studies classes in grades 6-12. I am currently a National Board Certified Teacher candiadate. This summer I completed the Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute and it was the best professional development I have had since I started teaching.

Professional Experience -
1994-1999 - After graduation in 1994, my wife and I worked at the Florida Baptist Children's Homein Lakeland, Fl where we were foster parents to abused and neglected kids ages 5-18. We had 10 children in our home at any one time and cared for over 100 children over the 5 years we were there. This experience has given me a deeper understanding of the needs of students who may be in foster homes or have been adopted.

2000-2004 - My wife and I switched gears a little and became missionaries serving U.S. military families through MCYM. We were "youth pastors" to the families on Ft. Benning U.S. Army Installation in Columbus, GA. We held weekly outreach meetings, annual Ski Trips and Beach trips, and numerous other activities that teens like to do. The military culture is unique and therefore the teenagers have unique needs that most teens do not. I still spend time with military teens, leading short term missionary trips to Europe and Central America.

2004- Present - I switched gears again and began my teaching career at Poinciana High School and now Liberty High School. I have taught World History, AP World History, Economics, and U.S. Government. I love making history come alive to students and see students connect with people of the past.

Goals -
I am a dreamer! Some short term goals for myself are to 1) earn my National Board Certification, 2) start a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction and 3) bicycle across the United States. Some long term goals are 1) become a "teacher" among teachers 2) travel to every European country and 3) be faithful to my wife and family. I encourage each of my students to dream! Without a dream, you will never get there.
